Job Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sourcing candidate to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking commodity price movements, identifying opportunities for alternate sourcing, developing and approving samples and pilot lots, reducing material costs, conducting commodity spend analysis, improving processes at supplier locations, handling price increases, auditing suppliers, and mitigating supplier risks. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering, preferably in the mechanical field, with a minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in any engineering industry. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Responsibility: Track daily price movements of commodities such as copper, pig iron, stainless steel, stamping, casting, machined parts, sheet metal, rubber, plastic, proprietary parts, etc. Identify and evaluate. opportunities for alternate sourcing to optimize costs and ensure a stable supply chain. Develop and cultivate relationships with alternate suppliers, ensuring their capability and reliability to meet quality and delivery requirements. Oversee the sample development and pilot lot approval process, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards. Drive material cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, value engineering, and supplier collaboration. Conduct comprehensive commodity spend analysis to identify areas of potential cost savings and develop strategic sourcing plans accordingly. Collaborate with suppliers to improve processes, enhance quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Effectively manage and negotiate price increases with suppliers, ensuring minimal impact on overall costs. Conduct regular supplier audits to assess compliance with quality, ethical, and environmental standards. Mitigate supplier risks through proactive monitoring, contingency planning, and supplier development programs. Demonstrate excellent communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams. Foster a collaborative work environment and actively engage with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sourcing strategies. Requirement: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (BE Mech preferred). Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within an engineering industry. Strong knowledge and understanding of different commodities, including copper, pig iron, stainless steel, stamping, casting, machined parts, sheet metal, rubber, plastic, proprietary parts, etc. Proven track record of successfully identifying and developing alternate sources of supply. Experience in sample development, pilot lot approval, and managing the product development process. Demonstrated expertise in material cost reduction strategies, value engineering, and negotiation. Proficiency in conducting commodity spend analysis and developing strategic sourcing plans. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive process improvements at supplier locations. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to audit suppliers and assess their compliance with quality and ethical standards. Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and mitigate supplier risks. Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across functions and departments.
