Job Description

    Position Description Business Division:Agri InputDepartment:MarketingLocation:GurgaonPosition Title:Product ManagerLevel: Manager/Sr. ManagerReporting to (Title):Crop Manager Position Purpose The position shall drive product strategy, add value by developing and implementing marketing strategies in order to optimise sales and profit growth for the designated portfolio of products. The position holder shall develop product positioning strategies, provide pricing inputs, work closely with marketing services teams and field marketing managers for product launches and campaigns, drive market research campaigns to identify customer needs and gaps and identify opportunities to improve market penetration and customer satisfaction. Strategic Responsibilities
    • Develop long term vision and strategy for product portfolio to improve market presence, reach, share and penetration by working closely with respective crop managers.
    • Develop annual marketing plan and expense budgets for product portfolio.
    • Evaluate customer behavior towards products, identify product gaps, product opportunities to optimize the portfolio through due market research in collaboration with key stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Sales team and other stakeholders to develop Sales & product forecasts.
    • Monitor industry, market and competitive trends for the concerned products / product categories gather market intelligence and understand segmentation along with analysis and product positioning.
    Operational Responsibilities
    • Coordinate with cross functional teams viz. operations, scm, registration, product development, sales, field marketing to drive execution of product strategies.
    • Participate in sales reviews, evaluate business performance, and identify actions for improving sales or portfolio expansion.
    • Develop product pricing, design and implement sales promotion schemes (product incentives, product discounts, and special offers) by working closely with crop manager and sales teams.
    • Work with marketing services team to develop communication plans, branding material that effectively communicate brand positioning and competitive advantages of the product.
    • Execute market research projects by seeking guidance from crop managers for defining project objectives, developing project plans, coordinating resources, aligning team to project goals and objectives, tracking progress, communicating progress and resolving conflicts.
    • Co-ordinate with Marketing Managers for product training related activities viz. preparation of product manuals, conducting product related training.
    • Prepare MIS reports and dashboards to report key metrics in order to measure progress against business plans and status of assigned strategic projects.
    • Work closely with Crop Manager , field Marketing Managers and sales team for smooth execution of promotional initiatives on focus products or new product launches (for example, coordinating pre-launch communication, explaining launch plan and schedule, communication and key messages , ensuring all collaterals are made available by marketing services teams, tracking post launch feedback).
    • Participate in or lead strategic projects that contribute to responsible use of products both within and outside the organization by adhering to product stewardship guidelines.
    Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding on products, represent the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on company products Financial Responsibilities
    • Drive product revenue and profitability.
    • Ensure adherence to allotted promotional and travel budgets.
    • Participate / lead improvement projects that are aimed at optimizing costs, maximizing value from investments made.
    People Responsibilities
    • Lead professional development by attending internal / external trainings.
    • Mentor staff on product marketing, branding & promotional activities.
    Education Qualification B.Sc. (Agri) /M.Sc. (Agri ) and MBA with specialisation in Marketing (or) Advertising and Business management Work Experience
    • 6 to 10 years experience in Agri input sales and marketing
    • At least 3 to 5 years experience in handling product marketing initiatives for a product / category of products
    • Prior experience of having worked in Field sales would be an added advantage

    • Excellent Knowledge of marketing principles (tools and techniques, marketing communication, roll out methodologies, effectiveness measures)
    • Excellent knowledge of the market (customer requirements, competitor products & pricing, market potential, market intelligence)
