Job Description

Lumen21 is looking for a highly skilled, self-motivated Systems Engineer (Cloud Engineer L2) to join our fast-paced cloud computing environment. As a NOC (Network Operations Center) Systems Engineer you will be responsible for Server and Network Management, including monitoring, capacity, performance, and service level reporting especially in the Cloud Computing environment of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Office 365. Need to understand the Server less compute environment and should be open to transition from server engineering to application based support.

Understand DevOps operations concept and willing to invest time and effort in learning new processes and technology. You should possess good understanding on ITIL v3.0 and Service Management concepts. You will be accountable for all production servers, networks, applications and services and be open to working nonstandard business hours and shifts.

Design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze and maintain the IT Infrastructure of internal and external customer environments; including network connectivity and utilization, Windows server administration, virtualization, performance tuning, backup and restore. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Maintain documentation of client networks and systems. Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks and provide support for escalated trouble tickets.

Day in a Life at Lumen21

This position requires you to work rotational shifts, e.g., 07:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. or 03:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 08:00 a.m. IST. Once you start your day in shift, you will have communication with your Manager to go over the days priorities. Your Manager will assign tasks to you, providing you with information about the current network related project and clients details. In addition, you will be guided by managers and members, establish and adhere to metrics driven quality controls and introduce or maintain best business practices and ITIL processes. This is a hands-on role with the expectation of direct client engagement.

Job Requirement

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation as it relates to server and network topology, equipment, and configuration(s).
  • Create project plans, design, and implement solutions.
  • Level 2 Support for problems identified with systems and network. Will act as an escalation for Level 1 and Level 2 Managed Services support technicians and work with Service Desk Lead on a day to day basis
  • Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for purchasing of new servers and networking equipment via quote procedure.
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed.
  • Standard system administration duties including server install, System/Application install and patch management, Windows problem determination and resolution, log analysis, etc.
  • Configure, test, and maintain LAN equipment and services, including switches, routers, firewalls and VPN.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems including network connectivity, traffic utilization, etc. using available network tools in a timely fashion.
  • Provide Infrastructure services in all areas needed: storage networking, Operating System, network security, directory services, server virtualization using system backup and restore, system and network monitoring, application installation and configuration
  • Assist with monthly reports, and recommendations for Managed Services Clients
  • Interface with third party vendors as liaison between client and vendor
  • Utilize superior customer service skills
  • Stay current with system information, changes, and updates

Desired Candidate

  • Candidates should be team players with excellent communication skills and have the ability to manage assignments independently. The ideal candidate will have a nurturing personality and the desire to help in the development and mentoring of level 1 technicians.
  • 5+ years of prior IT experience. Prior experience working for a service provider or consulting firm is a plus
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and work with various customers and management levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Shows initiative and acts independently to resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on projects to completion.
  • Works effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Effectively utilizes tools to resolve issues and escalates appropriately.
  • Network configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting experience are a must.
  • Experience working with Windows 2012R2, 2016, VMware, Hyper-V, Storage Technologies
  • Cloud Computing experience is a must related to AWS, Azure and Office 365
  • Microsoft certifications a plus
  • CCNA certification a plus
  • Hands on experience with Wired and Wireless networking, PC and server virtualization software, virus protection, backup systems.
  • Proven background of providing great customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritizes existing projects, and proactively determine areas requiring additional attention, monitoring, or maintenance.
  • Strong verbal, and written skills Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
