Job Description

Position Overview

ISS ESG is seeking analysts (3) to join its Climate Research team as part of the ISS ESG Climate Solutions unit for a full-time position. The successful candidate will be part of the global ISS ESG Climate Solutions team which assesses and documents the asset data of publicly listed companies, covering a continuously expanding investment universe. The ISS ESG Climate Solutions asset database is the backbone of Physical Risk Analysis.

The role is responsible for being crucial part of Climate Research team based in Mumbai, India, as well as work on continuous enhancement of processes for collection of new data points leveraging technology. Specific responsibilities include asset-data collection, training algorithms to screen out noisy data, climate research, professional mentorship of new team members and individual/team development. Furthermore, the analyst will work to ensure an efficient research processes and ensure highest quality; enhance our existing data collection processes and establish systems to expand the asset data collection process and more climate research data points in future.

The Climate Research analyst is expected to support implementation of client mandates, support sales colleagues in answering client questions on deep dive research aspects based on the project and team needs. The analyst is expected to work both independently as well collaboratively with colleagues based locally and across offices worldwide. The successful candidate will have a background in research and data services and exhibit a passion for responsible investment business with focus on climate change research and analysis. They should have proven abilities to proactively contribute to problem solving and work with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities

Research, review and analysis of company disclosures (e.g. sustainability reports, annual reports) to evaluate companies asset-level exposure and emission performance.

Ensure timely update and maintenance of asset data, which forms the key input for ISS ESG Climate s Physical Risk Analysis.

The asset database will be further used for multitude of products and services

Improve existing and implement new processes for research and data collection, specifically for asset-level data and emissions database

Support improvement and maintenance of soft infrastructure to enable smooth functioning of research unit, including but not limited to process documentation, knowledge management, methodology upgrades and mapping enhancements

Research, review and analysis of company disclosures (e.g. sustainability reports, annual reports) to evaluate companies asset-level exposure and emission performance

Support colleagues and clients as subject matter experts on products and services of ISS ESG Climate Solutions including support on day to day communications, operations and report writing

Support sales and client services with client specific research requests and may be required to present findings of such deep dive research to clients.

Identify opportunities and find creative approaches which enhance data collection, unlock resource capacities, and streamline climate research processes

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 to 7 years of relevant experience relating to data or research; any experience in climate change data is bonus

Bachelor s degree. A relevant Master degree (example: environmental science, engineering, economics, quantitative finance, or an MBA with a sustainability focus) is highly desirable

Integrity, organizational skills, high attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment

Excellent command of Excel and good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications

Strong research and analytical skills, ability to quickly process large amounts of data and information

Ability to conduct deep dive research based on client needs and process requirements

Excellent oral and written command of English

Willingness to work with a highly collaborative, flexible and innovative team across different locations

Educational background or work experience into GIS technologies will be advantageous.

Experience with data extraction from SQL/noSQL Databases as well as using Python or R libraries for data analysis and visualization are an additional asset

Regular work hours with slight flexibility to collaborate with colleagues and clients in different time zones
