Job Description

  • Responsible to support the migration of customer services, from legacy to strategic platform adoption, as part of 15m Enterprise tooling investment programme 2019/20.
  • Identify and providing event management and Auto ticket generation rulesets on behalf of EMS Operations into BT Technology for configuration on production systems.
  • As part of platform adoption and CI help identify and managed the reduction of Alerts to reduce costs and simplify operations for Enterprise
What youll be doing
  • Collect Customer / Device data from Event Management and CMDB systems and input to standard template to initiate on-boarding.
  • Obtain Auto ticketing rules from legacy event and incident management tooling.
  • Agree new Auto ticketing rules to be applied based on current rules, polling classes and input from Operations teams.
  • Liase with ASG teams to complete configuration of new Event Management systems.
  • Test event management to incident management work flow prior to and post go-live.
  • Own and manage resolution of identified defects with appropriate technical resolver teams.
  • Undertake event reduction and tuning reviews to identify areas for improvement as part of CI processes.
Well also need to see these on your CV
  • Strong understanding of Network concepts e.g. Routers / Firewalls / switches / load balances and how they fit into a network, but not Network expert.
  • Knowledge of event management systems in an Operations environment e.g. BMC Entuity, Smarts, Solarwinds.
  • Knowledge of Incident management systems e.g. Remedy
  • Strong self- starter with attention to detail
  • Data Analytical skills ( MS Excel, Incident Mgmt and event mgmt systems and CMDB s)
  • Operational testing pre and post cut over to production.
  • Capable of self-learning of new systems tooling following initial training from SME s.
  • Experience working in an Operational support /delivery role with a Network background.
  • Experience of Event management systems such as BMC Entuity, Smarts, Solarwinds.
  • Organisation / prioritisation / communication skills
  • Understanding of Network fundamental technologies, architecture, protocols and services.
