There are a variety of ways in which we can acquire items from vendors to our warehouses, ship items from one location to another, and several intermediate locations through which the package travels before reaching the customer. There are millions of such packages, each with different attributes, and different delivery requirements. What results is a highly dense graph of source, intermediate and destination nodes, with arcs between them representing possible paths for packages, with different costs and times along each arc. Accounting for all these constraints, and maximizing the number of shipments shipped, while minimizing cost, providing a variety of delivery options and maximizing delivery performance is Transportation Engineerings primary focus. We have built a world class Software engineering team which is focused on solving some of the complex problems in worldwide Transportation using workflows, optimization algorithms, machine learning systems etc. These are large scale distributed systems handling millions of packages being shipped through our network.At Amazon Shipping Foundation Technologies (ASFT), we are looking for Sr Technical Program Manager with strong hold on technology and program managerment. Responsibilities are cross functional as they include (but not limited to) software, processes, technology, different domains, Stakeholer management etc. A key superpower for a TPM in this role must be to work with a product s various Business stakeholder, Sr technical / non technical leaders and Development Managers to solution for complex use cases, put up detailed plan, track progress / risks and measure impact for cross cutting projects.The candidate need to not only excel in operating at a strategic level but also need to understand when to dive deep to keep the project on track. Specifically, As Sr. TPM one must set the bar on the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines. Along with that, the person need to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing, with senior management on status, risks and required mitigations to maintain project commitments.TPMs are expected to support the team in making appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams., Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams 5+ years of technical program management experience Masters degree or advanced technical degree 10+ years as a Software Technical Program Manager (TPM) Knowledge of software development process and life cycle Excellent technical, problem-solving and communication skills Experience managing large scale hardware/software product releases Experience defining KPI s/SLA s used to drive multi-million dollar businesses Preferred great communication skills both written and oral
