Job Description

We are the Azure Data team focused on open source relational databases, part of the C+E Azure organization. Azure database services for MySQL, PostgreSQL and MariaDB are fully managed database services that provide developers the choice to use their favorite open source database engine on Azure. We build reliable, highly scalable, and highly performing distributed systems for data processing needs on Azure. We are looking for a senior thought leader with strong product/program management experience and a passion for solving migrations related challenges. This leader will help define and drive the product strategy and roadmap, and interact with senior leaders in Azure, key decision makers in the field as well as customers. In this role, you will shape, define, and deliver migrations related product capabilities and experiences by deeply engaging with customers. You will also dive into data to track engagement and quality of experience. You will guide other Program Managers in delivering great product experiences from inception all the way through engaged customer usage. You will create and lead with clarity while bringing a strong bias for action. This program manager will bring the right mix of technical depth, engineering background, online services experience and cross-org collaboration skills to help evolve our migration product strategy, drive product prioritization, and accelerate enterprise customers journey to Azure OSS relational database services. You will build a new end-to-end migration solution that spans discovering workloads to migrate, evaluating them for the migration, automate conversions wherever applicable (EG: Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations) and build scalable data movement solutions to migrate databases to Azure., Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Mathematics or Physics or IT technical discipline or in place of 3+ years of internship or 3+ years of industry engineering experience
• 4+ years of professional program management or product management or related experience
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leading without authority skills
• Excellent ability to design, prioritize, plan, and track large scale projects
• Track record of driving data movement/migration related features across a product
• Technical depth and broad, high-level understanding of system design
• Background or knowledge in distributed systems, database systems and storage are a strong plus

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid problem-solving skills dealing with ambiguity
• Past experience in solving workload migrations related challenges and helping customers onboard a new platform/capability/service
• Past experience with homogeneous or heterogeneous database migrations
• Past experience with migrations related tools and services, and an understanding of challenges that come with any type of migrations
• Customer empathy and experience in shipping customer facing solutions
• Past experience in building solutions for global distributed cloud is a plus
• Past experience working with open source relational databases or other databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or Oracle is a plus
