What is the FTI Senior System Analyst in FTT Middle Office Applications responsible for

• The FTI Senior Systems Analyst FTT Middle Office Applications, designs new technology solutions across a set of applications to improve business efficiency and productivity by acting as the primary technology liaison to the business community.
• The Senior Systems Analysts researches and confirms the business needs in order to identify, recommend, and document the appropriate new business and/or systems requirements to address those needs and drive business process re-engineering. The Senior Systems Analysts works closely with the Business, Application Development and Testing Services teams by coordinating and supporting the technical system design, systems testing, integration testing, quality assurance testing and user acceptance testing to implement the agreed upon solution.
• The incumbent is required to work both independently and in teams on projects of high complexity, provide business, technical and consulting expertise, engage in complex research and analysis, and prepare and present proposals to ensure that the business and/or technology needs are met. The ideal candidate will have extensive financial industry experience, particularly in mutual fund products, pricing, financial reporting, complex securities, trade execution, trades settlement, regulatory reporting and related back office systems/processing. Agile project management and testing experience is an asset as the incumbent will be assigned to lead small projects and perform system and integration testing.

Responsibilities include: Requirements Analysis:

• Develop subject master expertise for data, functions and processes in relevant business domains.
• Works with project teams to understand and clarify business needs.
• Understands system design, enterprise architecture, application data models and entity relationships to effectively contribute in finalizing the business requirements.
• Define requirements when engaging external vendors.
• Stay up to date on latest industry issues and trends.

Solution Design:

• Drive the overall solution design leveraging knowledge of multiple systems to ensure seamless integration and usability across all impacted domains.
• Align the systems/applications design with the technology strategies.
• Analyzes, designs, integrates, and implements solutions across multiple applications in a domain, to include work processes, modifications, interfaces and reports.
• Designs interfaces, features, and new technologies to streamline complex work processes.
• Utilize various tools and methodologies to ensure technical design supports all business requirements.

Execution / Implementation:

• Direct the overall testing approach to ensure that the test strategies involve appropriate integration and process components.
• Performs and/or oversees unit, system integration, user acceptance and regression testing.
• Performs and/or coordinates defect investigation, clarification and resolution between testing teams and application development teams.
• Coordinates Production implementation of changes to existing applications.
• Documents configuration changes and participates in code reviews and walkthroughs.
• Manage and lead projects as projects.

Production Support:

• Provides Technical Support and service by researching, responding appropriately to, and resolving users technical and data issues.
• Works with the various technology teams, including external vendors, to proactively address technical issues.
• Participates in user group or technical meetings to identify and address on-going needs.
• This position requires a limited amount of Production environment support outside of normal business hours.

, Ideal Candidates Will Have:

• Minimum of eight years Systems Analyst and/or technical project experience on large-sized IT projects, including business process, systems design, data analysis, programming, and testing knowledge.
• Financial markets industry or mutual fund industry experience/exposure including deep knowledge of investment products is highly desirable.
• College or University accreditation, preferably in Computer Science.
• CBAP and/or PMP accreditation an asset.
• Knowledge of programming languages an asset.
• Solid understanding of mid-range mainframes, client-server platforms, relational database concepts, and distributed systems.
• Intermediate knowledge of technology industry standards and trends within area of expertise.
• Self organizing, proactive and self-motivated.
• Advanced knowledge of technology platform architecture.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
