The mission of the Data Scientist/Natural Language Processing Engineer is to research and develop novel methodologies for subject classification, extraction of named entities, and automation/refinement of business processes for an aggregator of academic and business publications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Development of machine learning algorithms and techniques to solve problems in the semantic enrichment space
Transition solutions into production environment
Work with data sets of varying degrees of size/complexity, including both structured and unstructured data
Build customized machine learning solutions, going beyond standard industry tools
Develop sophisticated visualization of analysis output for consumption by business users
Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
Train teammates on development and maintenance of solutions
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors/Master s degree in Computer Science, or related technical field
Minimum 2 years of professional work experience
Demonstrable experience with projects in Natural Language Processing, ML model design/implementation, and ML infrastructure/tooling
Fluency in Python with advanced skills in Pandas, Scikit, NLTK, and familiarity with Pytorch/Keras
Work in native Python scripts and Jupyter Notebook environments
Experience of taking Python projects to production
Experience in BERT, topic modelling, and text vectoring techniques
AWS Services S3, Sagemaker
Firm foundation in descriptive/inferential statistics and quality measures in ML/NLP space (F-measure, AUC-ROC, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Solid foundation in use of supervised deep learning for natural language processing
Experience with classification algorithms - KNN, SVM, decision trees, ensemble techniques
Experience with neural network approaches to text classification CNN, RNN, LSTM
Experience with clustering algorithms K-means, PCA, NNMF
Experience with container orchestration and management platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, Docker) is a plus
Knowledge of publishing world and processes.
Knowledge of library and metadata world and processes
Experience in SAFe/Lean-Agile practices
