Job Description

The head chef leads the kitchen and manages the team. Kitchens can be loud, hot, chaotic and stressful working environments, so it takes a strong leader to bring a team of chefs and support staff together to work through service. Head chefs might also require leadership and management skills when hiring and training junior staff members and integrating them into the wider kitchen team,Creativity is an essential trait for any head chef, as the role involves creating menus and designing new dishes that appeal to customers and help your restaurant stand out from competitors. This might mean being creative with new flavors and ingredients and finding ways to make classic recipes attractive to diners. Head chefs may also require creative skills in contributing to the business side of restaurant work. This could include involvement in marketing and the presentation of the restaurant, from decor and signage to the types of crockery and cutlery used in the dining room.
