About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionData Services Group is part of the Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) function and is responsible for providing a secure, real-time and agile Enterprise Data Platform. As part of our Relational Data Services, we provide data storage and retrieval, security, replication and migration and HA/DR services through multi-vendor relational database solutions including Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase. Support for big data, data acquisition, data pipelines, data transformation (ETL/ELT), data visualisation and enterprise data lake capability are part of our Emerging Data Services. We maintain our monitoring solutions and integrations with various other enterprise platforms via multiple channels. Most of our services are available via our automation and self-service platform, ICTECH. We achieve industry connect by leading and participating in various user groups, meet-ups and other engagement platforms.Purpose of the RoleData Services team is embarking on the cloud journey with a vision for hybrid, multi-cloud strategy. Focused engineering group is being setup for supporting the cloud strategy as well as for providing overall governance and development support for automation and engineering initiatives across the group.As part of this global engineering function, the Senior Technical Consultant will be responsible for developing partnerships across various TIS, Engineering, Architecture and Delivery functions and owning/leading multiple engineering initiatives across RDS and EDS services. The candicate will assist the management team with defining and delivering strategy, product and service related research and decisions.The candidate will maintain focus on following engineering principles, delivering robust, automated and innovative, hybrid multi-cloud data platform capability.Key ResponsibilitiesThe role requires a delivery-focused, innovative, approachable, multi-tasker with a solid technical background and impeccable communication and influencing skills.

  • Ownership and end-to-end accountability of one or more key engineering workstreams across Data Services.
  • Technical product ownership for one of more products and support to service owner(s) in implementing services and improvements.
  • Technical partnership with the management team on defining and delivering data services strategy and roadmap.
  • Active coaching and technical mentorship to the team by means of pairing, workshops, formal and informal mentorships etc.
  • Identification and implementation of automation and self-service deliveries.
  • Intenal and external engagement via formal and informal communication mediums. Creating and maintaining partnerships and positive visibility for the group and for self.
Experience and Qualifications Required
  • Hands-on expertise in managing hybrid database platforms across on-prem (Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop) and various cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, OCI)
  • Experience is designing and supporting data services across different cloud vendors including data ingestion, ETL/ELT and data visualisation.
  • Good exposure to Operating systems, Networking, Storage etc.
  • Exposure to working in Agile teams, following devops practises, designing and utilising CI/CD pipelines, automated testing framework etc.
  • Expert level programming skills in one or more programming languages.
  • Expert level troubleshooting skills solving infrastructure issues while also collaborating with development, testing and support teams.
