Job Description

    About the opportunityDepartment DescriptionWe are part of FIL s General Counsel s team and as such work very closely with our legal, tax, regulatory and commercial counterparts based in the Asia Pacific, United Kingdom, Continental Europe and other jurisdictions on cross border contracts and other legal documentation. Fidelity s in-house lawyers provide proactive and pragmatic advice to the business on a diverse range of issues, such as but not limited to new business initiatives, operational and customer matters and providing regulatory analysis.We have a strong focus on maximising in-house delivery and minimising use of external law firms.In India, we are responsible for assisting in legal matters relating to all Fidelity International entities/businesses in India. We currently support 3 India based legal entities (comprising SEZ/STP/DTA units) and equal number of Trusts set up for the benefit of certain employees. We also manage corporate secretarial tasks for all of the Fidelity International entities/Trusts.Purpose of the RoleThis is a global role having direct interface with our colleagues located outside India. You will primarily assist on documentation related to Fidelity International s asset management, retail and pension business and in particular its registered funds, regardless of jurisdiction and other related matters.This position requires ready access to and regular communication with our colleagues in different geographies, eye for detail, diligence and willingness to learn.Key Responsibilities
    • Supporting drafting, reviewing and negotiating (as needed) contracts and documents including but not limited to Distribution Agreements, Fund Partner Agreements, Non Disclosure Agreements, ISDA, Custodian Agreements, Single Sign On Agreements and Client Terms of Business as part of support to Fidelity Workplace Investing and Investment Solution Services verticals.
    • Helping in first assessment of information provided by business units and make additions and amendments to the documents.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant Company policies
    • Providing legal support to the project delivery, Service implementation and other business units on need basis
    Experience and Qualifications Required
    • Ideal candidate must have LLB qualification with 2 - 4 years of experience in-house experience in contracts as above in a multinational company (preferably Financial Industry/IAsset Management Company)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent judgment; business sense; high standards of ethics, honesty and integrity
    • Strong attention to detail, organization and ability to successfully manage several ongoing assignments.
    • Good understanding on a wide range of legal subjects, ability to build on this knowledge and bring in relevant SME s to resolve issues as and when needed.

    • Willingness to learn and use of technology
    • Cross-border /international engagement linked experience is desirable
