Job Description

A resident engineer manages and plans project timelines, budgets and staffing and provides supervision on construction projects while also providing quality assurance. They make sure that any completed work is in compliance with proper plans and specifications and ensure optimal working of all construction personnel.The REs duties regarding construction Contracts include: Develop and supervise an efficient and effective organization,including the REs staff and other members of the Agencys Projectteam as needed, to help ensure that each Project is constructed inaccordance with the Plans and Specifications. Assure that Contract administration is performed accordingto established ODOT policies and procedures, including thosedescribed in this manual. Assure that Work and Materials used on the Project, and Projectdocumentation conform to Contract requirements and establishedODOT policies and practices. The RE must obtain the approval ofthe Contract Administration Engineer (CAE) for price adjustmentsor for documentation that does not meet the Contract or acceptedODOT guidelines, including those described in this manual.
