Job Description

Senior Engineer-Tooling IN, Chennai | Professional | Full-Time | ID: 12959Vestas is the world leader in wind technology and a driving-force in the development of the wind power industry. This department has expertise in Engineering data analysis, Technical documentation, Product/ Process Quality control, Business Process, Tooling design, Test systems, Enterprise Asset Management, ERP solutions and Project management, would support Vestas global strategies through process optimization, production support, test validation, cost control and E2E Project Management. The tooling design team is responsible for developing and maintaining concepts, processes and tools for Manufacturing & Production of wind turbine components/assembly. We impose creative solutions and promote continuous improvement culture to make Vestas vision come true. This role is part of COO Tooling & EAM team.Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and development of tools and equipment in manufacturing value chain
  • Responsible for understanding, clarifying and reviewing tooling design specification, design verification & validation, design risk associated in manufacturing value chain
  • Responsible for creation of technical design documentation such 3D CAD, 2D drawings, technical construction file, HSE risks assessment, DFMEA, Design verification procedure/report etc., adherence to relevant legislations
  • Responsible for project execution through SAP/ERP/ECM systems
  • Contribute to cost reduction and improve quality through standardization, modularization and process efficiency improvements
  • Deliver the technical solution within quality, time and cost targets of the project
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering or allied
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Tool design and /or product engineering manufacturing is required
  • Experience in Mechanical design and specification in compliant to the relevant international standards
  • Exposure in working in an intercultural environment
Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge in Structural Mechanics is essential
  • Experience in 3D-Modeling and 2D-drafting, e.g. using Creo/ PDMlink and project execution through ERP/ECM systems
  • Broad Knowledge in Engineering Basics
  • Knowledge on FEA (E.g. ANSYS/Pro-Mechanica)
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing and with an insight into wind turbines, e.g. welding processes and material properties
  • Work experience with lifting tools and structures
  • Good Communication Skills which enable you to convey to a wide range of stakeholders across the globe
