Responsible for structural design, analysis, documentation and validation of Mining Systems structures. Structural components include housings, sealing systems, bolted joints, welded joints, coating systems, adjacent interfaces and other items as assigned. Synthesizes requirements from wheel motor systems group and other subsystems to design solutions to meet overall needs of the components. Develops three-dimensional CAD models and FE Models utilizing business tools, reviews these models with various stakeholders to meet design review milestones. Coordinates with lead systems engineers, other component engineers, senior engineers, product definition, supply chain, service, quality and manufacturing as needed to document and communicate requirements. Assists lead systems engineer with inputs for any customer field testing required to verify and validate design. Participates in manufacturing process reviews, pilot builds, first article inspection, failure analysis. Executes new part and new vendor qualification projects. Directs equipment assembly and / or disassembly, documenting remarkable findings according to business needs.
