Study of the manufacturing drawings and prepare the test plans as per the relevant codes. Carrying out the incoming raw material inspection for damages and dimensional correctness as per ITP. Responsible for checking the raw material soundness through ultrasonic inspection. Carrying out NDT, overall dimensional and visual inspection on job completion as per ITP. Responsible for coordinating with customers for NDT inspections and also for audits. Responsible for carrying out NDT inspection on test plates for welding procedure qualification and welder qualification as per AWS D1.1, ASME SEC IX and EN Standards. Ensure joint preparations, joint fit-up, preheat and inter-pass temperature, inter-pass cleaning & final visual inspection of weld are in accordance to approved WPS & applicable standards through surveillance. Monitor the performance of welders and their rejection/repair rates on weekly/monthly basis and providing results to welding engineering department. Coordinate with the execution team for weld repair activities such excavation of defective area, conformation of defect removal, re-welding and re-inspections. Identifying and issuing of Non-conformance reports as and when Non conformity is observed during the work & follow-up for closing NCRs. Ensure for the valid calibration status of monitoring and measuring devices like UT equipment, Welding machines, Baking & Holding ovens, measuring instruments like calipers etc. Coordinating the investigation of customer complaints and taking corrective and preventive action against the complaint. Implementation of Lean methods to eliminate waste for reducing production time and cost.
