Associate Site Reliability EngineerPosting Location : Location IN-RemotePosting date 2 days ago(1/13/2022 4:13 AM)Job ID 88673 Workday ID R-013922 Category Software Engineering About the job The Red Hat Software Engineering team is looking for an Associate Site Reliability Engineer to join our Cloud Services Site Reliability Engineering (CS-SRE) team in India. In this role, you will help architect, modify, improve, and support the platform providing managed services offerings on top of Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated. Using your expertise in SRE principles of automation and continuous improvement, you will help create an environment where availability, reliability, and security are threaded through the entire service life cycle, and not treated as an afterthought. As an Associate Site Reliability Engineer, you will be on the frontline of ensuring the reliability of this service. This will primarily take the form of writing software as required to automate continuous reliability, as well as continuing to monitor for new issues in production while participating in an established on-call rotation. What you will do

  • Follow SRE best practices to support customers of the nominated managed services
  • Develop automation (primarily in Python and Golang) to autocorrect or completely prevent issues in our online solutions
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation; evolve systems through changes to improve reliability and velocity
  • Interact with automated monitoring and healing infrastructure to ensure healthy environments
  • Participate in release cycles of our offerings, deploying code to integration, staging, and production environments, integrating with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) tools, monitoring, and providing change management
  • Perform software updates, peer code reviews, testing, and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) analysis; respond to security threats
  • Resolve customer issues in cooperation with Red Hats global customer support team
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for performing maintenance tasks, applying configuration changes, and remediating problems in our environment
  • Participate in a regular shift and on-call rotation; this will include a weekend working schedule
What you will bring
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline
  • Experience writing reliable software, with a focus on automation
  • Competency in at least 1 modern program language
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in software development and engineering
  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing a production service or infrastructure
  • Knowledge of how applications communicate over HTTP with services located on different web properties, including RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Solid communication and documentation skills in English
  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team
Experience with the following is considered a plus:
  • Managing a production service with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
  • Using logging and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Kibana
  • Golang and Python
  • Incident response process
  • Operations with a production, user-facing application
  • Engineering distributed architectures like microservices and service-oriented architecture
  • Developing a Kubernetes controller, operator, or platform component and implementing CI and CD pipelines for highly available applications
  • Open source software
  • Linux system administration
