Job Description

    SQL Database AdministratorSalary: Up to 20 LPAExperience Required: Minimum 10 YearsLocation: Chandigarh, MohaliJob Overview: As a SQL Database Administrator, youll be responsible for managing, monitoring, and supporting enterprise SQL Server environments with a focus on high availability and performance. Youll handle troubleshooting, performance tuning, database security, and system optimization.Key Responsibilities:
    • Database Monitoring & Support: Oversee and support SQL Server always-on availability groups 24/7, ensuring high availability and performance.
    • Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Quickly resolve issues, collaborating with the Operations team during incidents to maintain system reliability.
    • Performance Maintenance: Identify and address performance issues, optimize parameters, evaluate new release code, and advise on code changes.
    • Database Solutions Development: Configure and develop database systems, including structure design, security enhancements, and ensuring backup and recovery meet audit standards.
    • Policy Adherence: Ensure databases comply with RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) policies.
    • Collaboration: Work with Engineering to design and optimize SQL solutions; collaborate with Operations for server management across global data centers.
    • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends through education, professional publications, and network participation.
    • Developer Interaction: Work closely with developers to troubleshoot and enhance systems.
    • Windows & Security Knowledge: Apply high-level knowledge of Windows and its impact on SQL Server.
    • PowerShell Scripting: Utilize PowerShell for scripting tasks.
    Key Skills:
    • SQL Server Installation & Configuration: Experience with SQL Server 2016/2017/2019, including installation, configuration, and upgrade.
    • Job Scheduling & Monitoring: Schedule and monitor SQL Server jobs, manage backups, and handle restores.
    • Security Management: Manage user and role-level security within SQL Server.
    • Stored Procedures: Understand and modify existing stored procedures.
    • High Availability Configurations: Configure and manage Always On, log shipping, and replication.
    • Database Creation & Permissions: Create databases, logins, and manage permissions as needed.
    • Standards & Conventions: Implement database standards and naming conventions.
    • Health Monitoring: Use DBCC commands for daily health checks, monitor backup and restore jobs, and review error logs.
    • Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting: Apply high-level performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques.
    Qualifications:
    • Proven experience in managing SQL Server environments.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and security.
    • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
