Job Description

  • As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs.
  • This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services.
  • A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.
  • As a Principal Support Engineer, you will offer strategic technical support to assure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • A primary focus is to create/utilize automated technology and instrumentation to diagnose, document, and resolve/avoid customer issues.
  • You are expected to be an expert member of the technical problem solving/problem avoidance team, routinely sought after to address extremely complex, critical customer issues.
  • Services may be frequently provided by on-site customer visits.
  • Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
  • Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 7 years experience with Core products or eight years experience with Applications products, BS Computer Science/Management Information Systems/Science/ Engineering/Math/Physics/Chemistry with 3.0 GPA OR (for Applications) proven professional/ technical experience, i.e., demonstrating an understanding of Applications at a functional and technical level (preferably Oracle).

  • 6- 20 years experience with some or many of the following areas -
  • Core DBA Activities - Database Monitoring, Troubleshooting, Administration, Backup and Recovery, Space Management, Performance Architecture Planning and Tuning in a 24x7 Production environment.
  • High Availability - Real Applications Clusters and Data Guard - Architecture implementation, Installation, Configuration and Administration.
  • Analysis and Troubleshooting of SQL queries and provide performance improvement recommendations.
  • Analysis of OS/Storage/Database parameters/reports for performance impact and recommendations.
  • Administration, Configuration, Upgrades, Patching and Installation of Oracle Applications products (Release 11i and 12) including Oracle databases ((Release 10g and above).
  • Planning, Preparation and Execution of Production systems - Isolate and troubleshoot issues related to various Oracle Application or other mission critical Core Banking/Retail applications
  • Databases and underlying Operation systems and other Infrastructure components.
  • Analysis and Troubleshooting of SQL queries and provide performance improvement recommendations.
  • Database Monitoring, Troubleshooting, Administration, Backup and Recovery, Space Management, Performance Architecture Planning and Tuning in a 24x7 Production environment.
  • Deep knowledge in recovery scenarios
  • Disaster Recovery/DataGuard environment setups, maintainence and automation including failover/failback testing and scripting.
  • Engineered systems / Exadata adminstration and maintainence and performance monitoring - Database machine/Exadata storage servers/Infiniband including upgrades and patching
  • Large Enterprise EBS Applications Deployment Experience.
  • Experience in configuring and setting up Oracle Enterprise Manager (Release 11g and 12c)
  • Shell scripting/automation experience or perl/python.
Other desirable skills -
  • 12 C Fusion Middle Ware Install and configuration
  • 12 C Weblogic Server Install and Configuration-
  • 12 C SOA Install/Config & Administration
  • Deployment of Applications and Troubleshooting in 12C WLS
  • Deep understanding and troubleshooting skills in domain/managed server administration.
  • Proven skills in administering one of more security/access management tools OAM/OIM/OIF
  • Desired skills in Automation and scripting in WL Scripting
  • Good knowledge and familiarity with Oracle DB architecture/schemas and Hosting operating systems.
Must Possess -
  • Excellent written and Oral Communication skills are mandatory.
  • Prior experience in support or consulting roles are desired.
  • Job requires frontfacing customer, maintaining and developing customer relationships.
