We own back-end systems that are used by all Amazonians for daily business productivity including (but not limited to): networks, unified communications systems, Exchange, Active Directory, Lync, SharePoint, MSSQL Server, border email security, remote access VPN, Windows / Linux based infrastructure, and a variety of core OS infrastructure and related services.We are looking for a Manger based in Bangalore who is proficient in technical operations and engineering to develop our talented engineers while supporting and maintaining global infrastructure services in our enterprise.The ideal candidate is:A technical leader. As the Engineering Manager, you will provide exceptional leadership & management for a staff of local Systems Engineers who support Amazon Global IT systems in a follow-the-sun model.Enjoys being a really great people manager. Having the ability to build, motivate, and mentor a group of world-class engineers is the most important part of this role. You should have a track record in retaining top talent, excel in day-to-day people and performance management, and have the ability to recruit new engineers.Proven ability to take initiative. You must be comfortable with operating at a global scale and working across teams in a highly agile environment. Driving programs across boundaries inside the organization that benefit all of Amazon.Detail orientated. You have the ability to not only take initiative but your ability to plan and track is second to none. You are able to translate customers requirements into an actionable roadmap. Delivering the right things at the right time with competing priorities at times.Knows how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The ideal candidate will be very data driven. Utilizing metrics to measure performance gaps and increase productivity by improving the operational processes. Deep hands-on technical expertise in enterprise systems engineering. Strong communication and business acumen and the ability to ensure a consistently high level of customer satisfaction. An understanding of enterprise IT systems such as Exchange, Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM, Lync, and SharePoint, as well as exposure to a wide variety of technical products and issues. An understanding of enterprise telephony systems such as Polycom, Cisco, and others. An understanding of enterprise networking connectivity including wired and wireless options. Strong business and technical vision. Have experience in an internet operational environment, including multiple data centers and thousands of servers Have been successful working across organizational boundaries, bringing together people with diverse perspectives and experience to find solutions. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. In-depth knowledge of operating systems, including Windows and Linux. In-depth knowledge of Networking including common services such as enterprise voice. Exceptional customer relationship skills and experience of managing and developing technical staff and teams.
