The Amazon Appstore group in Bangalore is responsible to build product and technology solutions to provide high quality catalog to our Mobile App customers at the same time providing developers a simpler, faster and transparent publishing experience. We stretch technology boundaries to solve complex problems related to deep mobile automation, natural language processing, machine learning and large scale distributed systems.As the Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction, operation excellence and execution for a large software system. You will be managing a strong technical team to develop cutting edge solutions for various developers and customer facing systems. You will also be responsible for working closely with other managers of software development teams, TPMS, PMs within Amazon to improve their systems. To be successful you will:Be responsible for the end to end ownership of a technology team, including setting the technical vision for developing our systems to serve Amazons needs. Work closely with senior engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics Hire, coach, and mentor individuals; build a strong cross-functional organization Be a champion of engineering and operational excellence and establish team metrics for that excellence; including a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement. Propose and implement new projects or recommend system improvements. Make sure system design is security compliant by following security best practices Establish a consistent, project management framework and excellent development processes to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations, for business partners in multiple geographies. Represent the technical organization and evangelize the work to senior leadership. Raise the bar on technical excellence, show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiences., Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline 10+ years of relevant engineering experience 2+ years people management experience Deep hands-on technical expertise Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Masters Degree preferred Experience with Scrum or Agile development a plus Deep hands-on technical expertise Excellent verbal and written communication skills
