Job Description

Search Jobs Job DescriptionVMwares compute platform team is looking for a product manager to lead our desktop virtualization products (Fusion, Workstation) to support the needs of modern developers and IT professionals. Our desktop products are the oldest and most widely deployed products at VMware and a household name to anybody whoever wanted to run another operating system on their desktop. Were looking for a product leader to help usher these products into the modern era of containers and Kubernetes and to better suit the needs of application developers and DevOps users.The ideal candidate will have deep experience with modern developer tools like docker, terraform, git and VScode. They will lead a transformation of the desktop products to better support developers, these tools and workflows. In addition to the product transformation, you will lead a transition of our desktop products to a subscription/freemium business model. The successful candidate will be creative and technical, bringing a developer experience mindset and able to communicate effectively with developers as customers.This is an exciting opportunity to redefine desktop virtualization and transform this mature business.Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic vision for VMwares desktop virtualization products in collaboration with executives from the vSphere and Tanzu business units.
  • Partner with engineering and UX teams to define the user stories and features that realize the vision and roadmap
  • Work across teams to drive product execution and delivery of those user stories and features, ensuring they live up to expectations of quality and ease of use
  • Drive the prioritization process to ensure were working on the right things to grow the business
  • Together with our go to market and sales operations teams, lead the subscription transformation of our desktop business
Qualifications
  • 7 years experience as a product manager
  • Experience building highly technical products focused on developers
  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes and developer workflows
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience as a developer is highly desirable
