Monitor the status of operational weather models 2. Ensure accuracy in the analysis of weather forecasts by gauging the forecasts against observational data on a routine basis 3. Handle the dissemination of weather alerts pertaining to extreme atmospheric/oceanographic events (e.g. cyclones, heat waves, tsunamis, etc.) 4. Identify and test methods to improve the accuracy of operational weather forecastsRequirements:1. BSc/B.E. Masters (meteorology/atmospheric sciences/earth system sciences and related disciplines) 2. Knowledge of the power and energy sector is advantageous but not necessary, however, a strong interest in solving global climate change mitigation and adaptation challenges is a must 3. Prior experience in a research-based role focused on meteorology 4. Prior experience in handling/processing meteorological datasets in their native formats (netCDF, GRIB, HDF5, BUFR, etc.) 5. Project or research-based experience in one or more scripting languages (preferably Python) 6. Well-versed in cleaning/processing/visualizing geospatial data 7. Theoretical background coupled with experience in configuring/troubleshooting limited area numerical weather models 8. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and in a team 9.
