Job Description

Why this role matters The designer will be responsible for the creation of E2E OSS solution designs on behalf of the FND solutions team within the Openreach CTIO. They will be responsible for delivering designs on a range of major Openreach programmes such as FTTP Brownfield, NewSites, BDUK, introduction of new network elements for FTTP, Openreach workforce management. They will also be responsible for the implementation of Customer and Operational User Experience improvements across these programmes.The successful candidate will need to possess deep hands on technical expertise and experience in the creation of quality OSS solution designs to demanding timescales. Prior experience of the Openreach Plan & Build domain, NGA networks and the Telecom domain are essential. What youll be doing Essential skills and Experience o 5-7 years of experience in IT Industry o Very good experience and understanding of component and/or e2e solution design o Very good understanding of SDLC life cycle o Very good in analysis and problem solving o Should demonstrate Design Thinking o Very good communication skills o Proven record of producing working designs and delivery within tight deadlines Desirable Skills and Experience o Knowledge and experience of working on Openreach project(s) o Knowledge of the Openreach P&B stack. o Knowledge and experience working in Telecom Domain o Knowledge and experience in NGA networks and working with NGA Network Vendors. o Knowledge and application of Telecom domain frameworks and standards o Knowledge and application of UML in component/e2e solution design Well also need to see these on your CV

  • Managing a wider virtual design team comprising component designers and process designers.
  • Working with their Openreach CE counterparts in shaping CE stories, ensuring that the defined stories are fit for purpose to take into the design phase.
  • The qualification, triage and Impact Assessment of new business requirements across the major Openreach P&B programmes.
  • Converting business requirements into high quality e2e solution designs that can be used to drive the development teams.
  • Forming/leading virtual design teams and running design CFTs.
  • Leading Design Walkthroughs with key business stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that their allocated designs are completed by the RPM.
  • Working closely with the Delivery, Development and Test Managers as a key member of the Openreach FND Solutions team to ensure that all their commitments are delivered on time.
  • Ensuring the appropriate change control processes are complied with.
  • Seeking architectural conformance and buy in to their allocated designs via the ACF process.
  • Collaborate with application/platform designers to deliver solution designs
  • Collaborate with process design, network design and business stakeholders to define the solution
  • Owning and resolving issues related to the design both at a business and component level.
  • Ensure that designs adopt BT security policies
  • Managing design change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review test cases and provide support to testing teams.
  • Provide deployment and post deployment support.
  • Support in-life issues analysis.
  • Ensuring non-functional requirements are understood and met, including platform scalability, security, system recovery and customer impact of down time.
