Job Description

Data Steward/Data Analyst Officer (Individual Contributor)Role Purpose:To support the delivery of Data Governance goals and objectives, working with Global Operations core team and functional Data Stewards, IT, Enterprise Data Governance & Management to ensure high levels of data quality, integrity, privacy, availability, security and usability and adherence to Corporate policies and procedures.Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the functional Data Stewards in driving Data Governance activities for their scope of responsibility, including the development and maintenance of project plans and regular communication with key stakeholders to track progress
  • In conjunction with the Data Stewards, facilitate the completion of data lineage including application data flows, review of database schema, tables and data elements, key extracts and reports, as required, leveraging extract and upload capabilities within the Enterprise cataloguing tool
  • Work with the functional Data Stewards to identify the System of record, presence of personal data and any Authoritative sources
  • Monitor the intake of metadata and ongoing maintenance of key data within the Enterprise Catalogue.
  • Support Data Stewards with cataloging and certifying key data including business and technical data definitions, data flow, security, privacy, use and location of data.
  • Analyse data flows and dictionaries to support the cataloguing efforts
  • Monitor and effect changes to the Application Inventory Warehouse (AIW) to ensure that Business Owners are properly represented.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of Data Governance and Management practices through Certified Data Steward (CDS) accreditation and active participation in EDGM Data Steward Forum/network
  • Support the development of quality rules and analyse data quality issues based upon the output
  • Produce metrics detailing overall status
Minimum Job Spec
  • Strong analytical skills required to interpret data flows and dictionary documentation
  • Ability to extract and upload data effectively into the Enterprise repository
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to ensure required level of progress
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Governance and management concepts, policies and practices
  • Ability to understand data models, taxonomy and deep appreciation of data standards and data quality
  • Understanding of information architecture, i.e. how data is stored and organized within applications
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Must have strong self-motivational skills with ability to drive results.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong project management skills to ensure progress is made in line with project plans
  • Self-confidence and high motivation levels to escalate and resolve issues
  • BA/BS in Computer Science/Business (or equivalent work experience as a substitute for education)
