Job Description

This role is part of the Technology Services Platforms centre of excellence that will deliver and transition our customers to a world class voice and converged service capability. This work is a major contributor to Technology s 2020 ambition to create brilliant converged services over the best network.The purpose of this role is to be accountable from the business scoping of a technical deliverable through to enablement of technical benefits realisation. (Functional / non-functional). The role is accountable for ensuring that our technical deliveries realise Business Value. The role is accountable for multiple complex small to medium sized technical deliveries or a single large technical delivery. Specifically this role is accountable forEnsuring the scope of delivery is understood, that the technical solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and are achievedMeeting committed finance figures for the technical deliveries , Engaging with clients and suppliers including internal stakeholders (regular stakeholder comms)Ensuring that platforms/components have sufficient capacity to meet delivery commitments, Risk Management for technical deliveries and In life technical deliveries. What youll be doing

  • Own the technical delivery of project/number of projects from business scoping. The technical delivery will be complex and of small to medium size.
  • Manage the achievement of the requirements by the production of a robust and achievable design and delivery plan
  • Ensure all components impacted review, size and commit to the delivery & costs of the design for the technical delivery
  • Responsible for ensuring the scoping of e2e testing for accountable technical deliveries
  • Produce and agree technical delivery plan
  • Manage RAG status and expectations of a technical delivery with relevant stakeholders
  • Run a regular project review forum with all stakeholders. Risks/issues/finances/status/resources
  • Take ownership of technical delivery problems (test and live,P1 / P2 / P3 on prod), identify what needs to happen and ensure all parties who are impacted or who can help to address the problem are engaged in a timely fashion to reach a solution. Deals with most problems independently of line management, taking the inputs of requirements owners, designers, testers and component teams as required.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis including identification of preventative actions
  • Monitor, make recommendations and take any actions to address issues encountered during the, build & various test phase of the technical delivery
  • Challenge Product Line/operation to achieve meaningful benefits/ Business Value e2e
  • Identify and implement changes to improve quality and reduce costs
  • Identify when technical deliveries are at risk and take corrective action to resolve,Collaboration with peers
  • Regular reporting updates to advise of progress to all stakeholders
  • Engagement with appropriate teams on delivery progress
  • Engagement with relevant stakeholders to agree , interlock, post deployment testing, trial, pilot, launch plans

  • Good understanding of processes and application of procedures and concepts within own work area and wider sub-platform.
  • Analyses all data, identifies the key issues and patterns in that data, can take a broad perspective, and solves problems assessing all possible solutions.
  • Monitors progress and takes action to ensure that problems are dealt with. (including asking others to help)
  • Develops plans for specific work activities in own area over the short-term, which may include forecasting resource requirements.
  • Adapts information/style to the audience, explaining difficult issues clearly, to establish consensus and gain agreement.
  • Problem Solving - Finds the root cause of problems and ensures that they are resolved through the most appropriate solutions.
  • Change Management - Has a strong understanding of the need to appreciate and manage change in terms of business/customer deliverables. Develops a level of awareness and commitment in colleagues and customers that helps them to understand and appreciate the issues raised by change.
  • Delivery of Commitments - Consistently delivers on commitments, even when under pressure. Helps others set and work toward objectives.
Describe the experience that an individual in this role is likely to have.
  • MANDATORY: Engineering/Science degree qualification or equivalent.
  • MANDATORY:Software development methodologies, e.g. waterfall, agile
  • MANDATORY: Exceptional technical background and motivated and enthusiastic when in comes to future technologies
  • MANDATORY: Ability to collaborate with various teams within an agile environment.
  • MANDATORY: Over 5 years of experience of technical Delivery management in the context of telco projects e.g. service provision and service assurance.
  • PREFERRED: Experience of technical Delivery management in Numbering
