Role: Network Security Administrator with a strong firewall knowledge, to join a technically challenging role within the IT Enterprise Application Access team We are looking for candidates who have experience of both firewalls and networks, focusing primarily on the firewalls, providing best practice implementation and management, ensuring the latest features are configured correctly, working closely with automation and networking teams. This role will suit a candidate who would like to work on a global network infrastructure in a key role, with continual learning opportunities within a supportive and diverse environment. This role is key to maintaining the ongoing security of our network. You will be able to understand and take the best course of action when a critical production system has an acute problem and manage priority and high value tasks as part of an agile team. As a Network Security Administrator, you will join a team responsible for; Designing and implementing new secure environments and EAA Stuff. Supporting Sophos network security infrastructure with a focus on Firewalls (Sophos UTM and XG). Provide operational support for firewalls and security products across the Sophos global infrastructure Escalation point for complex technical issues Rotational weekend on-call to address critical issues. Ability to work weekends when necessary for scheduled tasks Responsible for bringing problems to a resolution within a timely manner Lead operational projects to completion working with other Sophos teams and vendors Drive the resolution of all priority issues including participation in technical assistance conference calls Support internal customers with process and technical questions related to Firewall Operations Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and automate processes with Firewall Operations. Drive and provide continued compliance and assist with security audits and assist in remediate of any security related issues. Additional responsibilities: Ensure firewall services and systems are always available and reliable. Respond to and manage service issues and problems. Report, pursue, communicate, and when needed escalate any breaches in information security or policies Able to coordinate and work with on-site engineers during outage or critical situations. Adhere to established change process, incident management Able to document troubleshooting/process related documents for the team. To be considered for this role the skill-set required are the following: Strong Network Firewall knowledge and skills A good understanding of Linux, Cloud networking and Software Define Networks A strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS) Experience of Routing, Switching and SDWAN solutions Strong experience with automating against firewalls and network infrastructure Strong experience of Cloud Infrastructure such as AWS/Azure Knowledge of new technologies like Zero Trust Networks and there application Cisco certified network engineer advantageous Knowledge of Sophos products would be advantageous Knowledge of new technologies like Zero Trust Networks and SD-WAN Nice to haves: Load Balancers, Understanding of DevOps technologies (Python Scripting, Ansible) ,
